What this site knows about you

Very little, and this page says exactly what. There is no account to create, nothing to sign in to, and nothing measured until you say so.

What we collect

Searches

When you search for a town, that town is sent to our property data provider so results can be fetched. Searches are not recorded against you, because there is no “you” — no account, no profile, no identifier that follows you between visits.

Your cookie choice

The only thing this site stores in your browser is the answer you give to the cookie question, kept so it is not asked again on every page. It contains nothing but that answer. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Server logs

Our servers record requests for diagnostics and to keep the service running — which can include your IP address, the pages requested, and the time. This is ordinary technical logging, it is not used to build a picture of you, and it is not combined with anything else.

What we do not collect

Advertising and analytics

This site is free because advertising pays for it. Advertising uses cookies, and no advertising cookie is set before you have made a choice on the banner — that gate sits in front of every ad on the site, and nothing can fire ahead of it.

We also use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and where visitors come from, so we know what to write more of. It runs only after you choose Accept all, with IP addresses anonymised, and Google's own policy governs what it does with the data it collects.

Choose Essential only and neither advertising cookies nor analytics are set. Choose Accept all and our advertising partner may set cookies to make the ads you see more relevant and to measure them, and analytics runs. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back.

Who else is involved

Building an appraisal means asking several services for information. These handle property data — sale prices, listings, postcodes — rather than data about you.

How long things are kept

Property data is kept and reused, because a sale price from last year is still a sale price from last year. Server logs are kept for a limited period for diagnostics. Your cookie choice stays in your browser until you clear it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data held about you — to see it, correct it, have it deleted, and object to its use. In practice we hold almost nothing: there is no account to look up and no profile to delete. If you believe we hold something about you and want to exercise those rights, get in touch and we will help.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Children

This is a tool for people buying property. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything about them.

Changes

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date below moves.
